Catherine Polster

Catherine joined Stony Brook Medicine in the Department of Preventive Medicine in 2010 as a Data Coordinator in the Division of Epidemiology, and in 2013 became a Project Administrator for the Program in Public Health for several multi-site research grants. During this period she co-authored several publications and presented abstracts of her research nationally.In 2018 Cathy expanded her role within the Program to assume the duties of Senior Staff Assistant and Assistant to the Director. An English major who graduated from American International College many years ago, Catherine has returned to school working towards a Masters in Higher Education Administration at Stony Brook University. She is the Co-Graduate Chair for the Stony Brook Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and a of the Stony Brook Workforce Diversity Committee. In her free time Cathy enjoys country music, reading, kayaking, and spending time with family.

 
 

JoanMarie Maniaci, MA

JoanMarie Maniaci earned two degrees at Stony Brook University (B.A. in English and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). While an undergraduate she participated in the Academic Peer Advisor Program and has worked professionally at Stony Brook for ten years. She enjoyed serving in several capacities in the Academic & Pre-Professional Advising Center, most especially, her position as an Assistant Director for Pre-Professional Advising, where she coordinated the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program. She joined the Program in Public Health as the Senior Academic Coordinator in fall 2012 and hopes to provide students with the same friendly encouragement she has always received from the Stony Brook community.

What does Joanie do in PPH?
Her primary role is to serve as a source of support for the Public Health students before they are admitted, through their time in the program, and even after they graduate. This includes registration, advising, event planning, and practicum coordination.

 
 

Krista Gottlieb, MBA

Krista Gottlieb provides administrative support to the Program in Public Health and its pursuit of national, program-level accreditation in health management and re-accreditation in public health. Krista works with PPH faculty, staff, and key stakeholders through all phases of the accreditation process to encourage continuous quality improvement through an iterative feedback process. She previously served PPH as the Staff Assistant for Student Affairs, working closely with students throughout the admissions process. Prior to her time at Stony Brook University, she served as the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions for the School of Arts and Science at Iona College, working with various graduate programs and their respective accrediting body requirements.
 
Krista holds a B.A. in Spanish Language, M.B.A. in Management, and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in International Business. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, Alpha Mu Gamma, Sigma Delta Pi, and Beta Gamma Sigma. She is a native Long Islander, avid concert goer, and is involved in a Brooklyn-based, grassroots fundraising organization to benefit cancer research.

Pascale Flis-Aime has earned 3 degrees at Stony Brook University (BS in Health Sciences and Sociology, MPH in Community Health and MBA in Management). Utilizing her own experiences as a graduate from the Program in Public Health, she is eager to help guide MPH and MHA candidates in her role as Practicum Placement and Community Engagement Coordinator. Prior to this, she served as the Community Health Coordinator at the Long Island Health Collaborative - a position that gave her the opportunity to foster relationships with organizations across Long Island. 

A lifelong Long Islander, Pascale lives for the summer! She also is an avid traveler and hates frogs.

 
 

Christine Ziman, MA

Christine Ziman earned a B.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from Purchase College and two degrees from Stony Brook University (B.A. in History and an M.A. in Liberal Studies). She had spent fourteen years in the healthcare environment working as a credentialing coordinator for physician appointments and as an assistant to the directors of operations and nursing. She is currently attending Stony Brook in the Higher Education Administration Graduate Program. She joined the Program in Public Health as the Senior Staff Assistant in fall 2018.
