The Program in Public Health at Stony Brook Medicine is proud to offer a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree!
The MHA Program is a CAHME-accredited, fully online degree that develops highly qualified health management professionals and aspiring health management professionals with an understanding of population health competencies. Students have the opportunity to achieve their degree through high-quality, interactive distance learning courses. The curriculum couples a strong foundation in general management principles with specialized instruction in healthcare administration and population health. Courses are led by full-time faculty members with terminal degrees and subject matter experts who are active practitioners in their fields.

The MHA Program is responsive to national trends in health administration education in terms of its structure, curriculum, and relevance to the job market. The structure of the MHA Program is intended to meet the needs of students who require more flexibility than the traditional classroom setting. With a fully online curriculum, the MHA Program can be completed remotely in an asynchronous format, supplemented with optional synchronous opportunities. This delivery format is intended to accommodate the needs of prospective students who are working professionals, busy parents or caregivers, and other self-motivated individuals who appreciate the flexibility afforded by a distance education format.
In addition, the demand for healthcare managers in the United States is growing, making the MHA credential a viable degree choice. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that "employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 32% from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations," resulting in 139,600 additional jobs in the industry over the next decade with a median salary of $104,280.
