Professional Development Fund for Students

The Program in Public Health has implemented the Professional Development Fund for Students. This fund will allow PPH to support its students in a variety of professional development opportunities. It is awarded to PPH student of professional development projects or activities to assist our students to develop their full professional potential or to prepare for advancement.

What can the PPH Professional Development Fund for Students reimburse me for?

The department may reimburse expenses related to traveling, lodging, registering for conferences, workshops/seminars, etc. However, students should review the Stony Brook Travel and Expense website to ensure they abide by any applicable rules and regulations related to travel reimbursement.

Each graduate student may be reimbursed up to $500 for each academic year.

Requests for funding must be submitted prior to the conference for pre-approval to the Assistant Director for Administration and Finance, however all reimbursements will be made once the event has concluded. All reimbursement requests MUST be submitted no later than 30 days after the completion of the event.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and funds awarded as available. Completed applications should be sent to christine.ziman@stonybrookmedicine.edu for review and approval. To access the application see link for the Professional Development Fund Application.
