Eileen Zappia

Eileen Zappia joined the Program in Public Health in October 2007 and has been the first person to greet anyone walking into the office ever since. Eileen is responsible for answering telephones and walk-in inquiries, and provides assistance to the Senior Staff Assistant by maintaining office supplies and equipment. She is involved with State Research Foundation and Stony Brook Foundation procurement activities and coordinates semi-annual workshops, conferences, orientation, and convocation arrangements. Eileen also assists as MPH Coordinator to schedule classrooms, organize class schedules, request audio/video equipment, order textbooks, and prepare course evaluations. She also is greatly involved in the preparation and maintenance of new applicant files for admission. 

 


 

JoanMarie Maniaci, M.A.

JoanMarie Maniaci earned two degrees at Stony Brook University (B.A. in English and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). While an undergraduate she participated in the Academic Peer Advisor Program and has worked professionally at Stony Brook for ten years. She enjoyed serving in several capacities in the Academic & Pre-Professional Advising Center, most especially, her position as an Assistant Director for Pre-Professional Advising, where she coordinated the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program. She joined the Program in Public Health as the Senior Academic Coordinator in fall 2012 and hopes to provide students with the same friendly encouragement she has always received from the Stony Brook community.

What does Joanie do in PPH?

Her primary role is to serve as a source of support for the Public Health students before they are admitted, through their time in the program, and even after they graduate. This includes registration, advising, event planning, and practicum coordination.


 

Casey McGloin, M.P.H.

Casey McGloin earned her Bachelor of Arts in Writing from Ithaca College and her MPH from Stony Brook University’s Program in Public Health. She joined the PPH as a staff member in April 2012.

What does Casey do in PPH?

Casey works as the Re-Accreditation Coordinator to conduct the program’s self-study process for re-accreditation through the Council on Education for Public Health.
