July 25, 2013: Columbia University Epidemiology Scientific Symposium. September 25, 2013, UNICEF and Columbia University’s Department of Epidemiology will cosponsor an exciting symposium focused around global childhood disability.

July 25, 2013: The National Hispanic Health Foundation Scholarship. The National Hispanic Health Foundation, affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, will award 20 scholarships to dental, medical, nursing, public health, pharmacy and policy students who exhibit exceptional academic performance, leadership, and commitment to the Hispanic community. Eleven recipients will receive $5,000 for two years funded through United Health Foundation and nine will receive $2,000 for 1 year.

July 17, 2013: UNICEF Global Childhood Disability Symposium. On September 25, 2013, UNICEF and Columbia University’s Department of Epidemiology will cosponsor an exciting symposium focused around global childhood disability. This event is one in a series of Columbia University Epidemiology Scientific Symposia (CUESS), which are dedicated to exploring cutting edge scientific topics in epidemiology and population health. This series brings together leaders in the field and aims to both explore the state-of-the science and to push the research and programmatic agendas forward. This symposium will bring together national and international research, policy, and government leaders for a full day of talks and discussion addressing such topics as: why childhood disability matters, disability rights for children, building capacity for assessment, working across the health, education and welfare sectors, and taking interventions to both prevent child disability and to support children living with disability to scale. June 21, 2013: Global Health Essentials Course. The 2013 Global Health Essentials Course at Weill Cornell is schedule from August 5-16th. This two week course at Weill Cornell Medical College is aimed at providing healthcare providers and students with the tools and knowledge necessary to engage in high-impact interventions in global health crises. The course is taught by 30 world experts and includes lectures, workshops, case-studies, and group exercises.
